Activity 4
The simple past is about finished events in the past. We usually use time expressions in the simple past. Here are some examples of time expressions for the simple past.
Yesterday
Two days ago
Three weeks ago
Four months ago
Five years ago
Last week
Last month
Last year
The time expressions can go at the beginning or the end of the sentence, but not in the middle. For questions we put the time expression at the end.
For example:
Did you do your homework last night? No, I didn’t do my homework last night. This morning I did my homework.
Look at the words and pictures, write the questions with the time expressions and the verbs in the brackets.

(play video games / last night)
*Did you play video games last night?*

(order a pizza / yesterday)
*Did you order a pizza yesterday?*

(go to the museum / two weeks ago)
*Did you go to the museum two weeks ago?*

(listen to the radio / three days ago)
*Did you listen to the radio three days ago?*

(celebrate your birthday / last year)
*Did you celebrate your birthday last year?*

(pay the rent / last month)
*Did you pay the rent last month?*
